How To Get People To Involuntarily Buy From You
I’m sure you’ve been in this scenario on multiple occasions, I know I have.
When scrolling the feed on facebook or the internet.
You click on something that you find intriguing, then right after you don’t think much about it.
But…
‘Now The Haunting Begins’
For the next week you are getting spammed with the same thing over and over again, feels like it’s constantly in your face like Joe Biden on a toddler.
It gets to the point where you wanna smash your phone to the ground.
I’m here to tell you, there is another way that is less creepy, less stalkerish and actually productive.
And this is how…
‘Exploiting The Reciprocity Reflex - in a good way’
No longer than a week ago, I was searching on my phone for a new barbecue.
It didn’t take long to flood every page I would later go to with the same stupid picture of a barbecue, that picture didn’t tell me anything, all it did was make me annoyed.
This continued for a whole week before it finally stopped.
Then this happened…
I talked to a friend about it over coffee, both our phones were lying on the table, listening of course.
So ohhhhh my god!
Now both our phones were infected with this barbecue poltergeist.
This is the way most retargeting works, and that’s a real shame, because if used in the right way it can give some of the best return on your investment in marketing dollars.
‘Strategically retargeting’
There is a period where the prospect weighs their options, this is called ‘customers journey’
The rough process for most products or services goes like this.
Prospect becomes aware of a problem or need.
Prospect decides to do something about it.
Prospect looks up possible options and solutions.
Prospects picks an option and checks out different suppliers.
Prospects buys from a supplier.
Reason why this is important is the sooner you get in front of a prospect, the higher the chances of converting them into a customer and the less it costs you to make a sale.
Ideally you wanna catch them at stage 3.
If you catch them at stage 5, you’ve entered the race too late.
Retargeting strategically is the best way of catching them early.
You need to show multiple videos and highlight something new and crucial about the product every time, instead of showing the same picture over and over again.
Then we retarget people who already saw the ad, showing them new information.
